Ten years is long enough to have seen your gate fail before.
Plano Automatic Gate Repair has been working on automatic gates for more than ten years. That length of time does one useful thing: it means the gate in your driveway, or at your community entrance, is almost certainly failing in a way we have already stood in front of. Most gate calls are not mysteries. They are a short list of parts that fail in predictable ways, and the value of experience is knowing which one to check first rather than working down the list on your invoice.

The estimate is free, and it starts at the gate
We look at the gate before quoting it. The part a customer describes is frequently not the part that failed, and a number given over the phone without seeing the gate is a guess wearing a decimal point. There is no diagnostic fee — not a discounted one, not a credited one. There is no fee.

Repair gets quoted before replacement
Most of what stops a gate is a component: a control board, a photo eye, a limit switch, a worn chain, a sagging hinge. Components get replaced without touching the rest of the system. If an operator is genuinely finished you will hear that plainly, with the reason, and with what the repair would have cost so you can see the comparison yourself.

Safety devices get repaired, not bypassed
The fastest way to make a reversing gate move again is to unplug the sensor that is stopping it. It works that afternoon and it removes the entrapment protection the gate was built with. We fix the device instead — which matters most on community and commercial gates, where the person paying the invoice is not the person standing in the opening.

You get the finding, the part, and the price before any work starts. Our work is warrantied; ask when you call and we will give you the terms that apply to your repair up front rather than after.
Where we work
Based around Plano, out across Dallas–Fort Worth
Plano is where we are based and where most of our work is. From there we serve communities throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area — Plano, Frisco, Grapevine, Grand Prairie and the cities around them. It is a large service area, and it is deliberately a driving one rather than a dispatching one: the same trade knowledge that diagnoses a residential swing gate in Plano diagnoses a self-storage slide gate in Grand Prairie, because it is the same short list of parts.
- North Texas heat is hard on operators. Sun on a keypad housing, heat soak on a control board sitting in an unshaded enclosure, and a battery backup that ages faster than its label suggests.
- Storm cycles take out control boards. An outage scrambles operator settings, and a board that lost its programming reads exactly like a dead gate to the person standing at it. That is a repair, not a replacement.
- Ground movement moves gates. Posts lean, swing gates start to drag, and the operator correctly reads the extra load as an obstruction. The sensors get blamed and the sensors are innocent.
- Commercial and community gates run far more cycles. An apartment or HOA entrance sees in a week what a home gate sees in a year, and it wears in a different order.

What you can expect on the phone
Tell us the symptom rather than the diagnosis — stuck open, stuck closed, opens but will not close, quit after the storm, residents cannot get in. Those five descriptions narrow the problem down considerably before a truck leaves, and they are how customers naturally describe gates anyway.
